In order to be promoted to the next grade, students must complete and/or accrue the prescribed minimum number of credits (Carnegie units)* per grade level designated by the Metropolitan Board of Public Education and the State of Tennessee:
5 credits (Carnegie units) or more at the end of the ninth grade
10 credits (Carnegie units) or more at the end of the tenth grade
16 credits (Carnegie units) or more at the end of the eleventh grade
22 credits (Carnegie units) at the end of the twelfth grade *Credits (Carnegie units) include the passing of required courses as set forth by the Metropolitan Board of Public Education and the State of Tennessee. Graduating seniors must complete either the University Path or the Technical Path. Students graduating must also pass all Gateway tests including Algebra I, English II, and Biology. |
