  • Metro school personnel will review the returned packet and determine if further screening, observations, or evaluations are necessary. The school system will then develop an assessment plan.
    1. If the assessments you have provided to the school system contain all the current information that is required, the school system personnel will proceed to step 4.
    2. If there is not enough current information the assessment team will identify which specialists are needed to evaluate your child (classroom teacher, exceptional education teacher, psychologist, speech/language specialist, hearing specialist, vision specialist, and/or others).

  • The school system is required to contact you to discuss the reasons for the referral, to explain why your child needs to be evaluated, and to answer any questions you might have about the evaluation before it occurs.

  • You will be given a prior written notice to inform you of any evaluation/observation that will take place.

  • You must sign a permission form before the school system personnel can evaluate your child.
