In a press conference held at Rose Park Middle School, Gov. Phil Bredesen, Education Commissioner Tim Webb and other community leaders announced the launch of “Expect More . . . Achieve More,” a campaign to raise awareness among parents and the public about Tennessee’s higher academic standards.
At the conference, leaders stressed though the implantation of higher standards may cause a temporary decline in test scores and grades, student achievement will be greater in the long run. Students will be more equipped for higher education and careers after graduation.
